What a clever crowd you are

Using the ‘wisdom of the crowd’ is about utilising a diverse group of people, ‘the crowd’, to collectively make decisions and solve problems through ideas exchange. The internet has allowed for this to happen in a quick and efficient way, and if we can tap in to it, perhaps it could prove effective.

We could utilise the wisdom of the crowd for passing on ideas on reducing carbon footprints. As we have found through LCC, many of the problems and solutions for reducing energy use and carbon footprints were relatively similar in some cases with certain issues presenting themselves over again. If these problems and solutions are so common, then many in the crowd shall have come across them and found ways to overcome them.

Ideally we could focus this for LCD by utilising the old Champions and new Deviants in an ideas exchange in the form of a crowd on an online forum, someone presents a problem and then the crowd responds. This could be incentivised with gamification to increase participation and to make the experience more fun and have a community feel to it, just as Claire posted about in the previous post. First we need the Champions on board so we can actually form a crowd though! The knowledge is there, we just need a forum for the communication, hopefully our LCD project.
