Eight Ash Green Cricket Club has been measuring, offsetting and reducing its carbon emissions for over a decade. It took another step up this year by formally committing to Carbon Net Zero by 2030 and producing the first report on progress to this vision. The report can be found here.

Good progress was made with ‘Carshare Scorecard’ * and other ideas, but some really tough decisions lay ahead if the club is to reduce emissions by 90% in just over six years. Help from our local cricket community will be essential and we will need EV chargers at opposition grounds. Plug In Suffolk can help here and we are promoting it to all clubs.

* Our dedicated Cricket Carbon Calculator assumes 11 vehicles go to every match, a Covid necessity no longer . Players and teams compete to get the biggest reduction, so a score of 6 means ‘only’ 5 cars were taken. Our aim is to score an 8 every game by talking 3 electric vehicles and thereby eliminating transport emissions. We expect to start achieving this next season.
