When we first started measuring carbon emissions in 2012, cricket was largely a summer sport whose season started in April and finished in September. This has now changed with indoor leagues and winter nets which mean even grassroots cricket is now played 12 months of the year.
The need to include these activities means changes to our carbon calculator. We’re providing more template flexibility to reflect smaller indoor team sizes, and we’re adding a neutral venue to reflect teams won’t be playing home or away.
These have all been done for pilot club Eight Ash Green CC and will be offered to clubs in the Colchester’s Northern Gateway Indoor League. This is separate to our commitment to North Essex Cricket League but there is a lot of crossover between the two.
