Energy COST over last decade

The below chart shows the cost of electricity used at our Claydon Court HQ. This is rising slowly and will rise steeply – very steeply – in 2022. There’s not much more we can do to improve energy efficiency, people will just have to use less if we want to cut costs.

Inspired by the Suffolk County Councils Low Carbon Champions project back in 2011, Claydon Court invested over £100k in energy efficiency measures. It took our EPC rating from a G to a B (the lowest you can get with an old building) but the benefits weren’t immediately obvious.

It’s not an exact science but Suffolk CC’s Ned Harrison suggests going from G to B could cut emissions by half. Based on pre-investment levels we’ve applied a 25% saving which is still a saving of £42,600 over 10 years. These savings will be even greater in 2022 onwards.
