Claydon Court welcomed visitors from Suffolk Green Buildings yesterday.   It was an eclectic collection of guests who raised some interesting points following presentations by both owners Neutral Territory and New Anglia LEP.    The Neutral Territory presentation can be found on Slideshare.

First was surprise that the claim to be ‘neutral territory’ did not mean that ALL property emissions were mitigated at source.  This is something that we will ultimately achieve by implementing our earlier SABRE report but only when funds permit.  In the meantime we argue that the Measure – Reduce – Balance model is a valid alternative when the professional involvement in the Balance element is assured through World Land Trust delivery.  Besides, this option is only really available to property owners and we want the MRB model to apply to any small business.

Another visitor wondered how we could change our property offer in the face of a market segmented on commercial and environmental attitudes (our Wizard of Oz metaphor).   Yes, we can’t change our properties but can change the way we promote them to appeal to these different types of organization.  This is currently part of an ongoing action research project that aims to increase demand for both Neutral Territory and Low Carbon Champions.
