An article about Newham having the lowest carbon footprint of any borough in the country revealed that the national average is 12.5 tonnes per person per annum.

The good news is that Newham is 18 per cent beneath this figure.  The bad news is that this is probably due to poverty with Newham being one of the most deprived boroughs in the country.

I presume the same analysis could be conducted at county level to support Suffolk’s claim to become the greenest county.  Does anyone know if this has happened?  And if so does it reflect a poor county as much as a green one?
