As we have a few tech based companies here is a little comparison.

All of these companies work is based around computers and most of the work is done inhouse making them suitable for comparison, however probably more work is done in house by Showbiz Software which shows up in the transport graph (all the Y axis are in kgCO2 unless stated in title). Also Strident Managed Services house a large server using far more electricity shown in the electricity chart. Strident Managed Services for all three components, electricity, transport and water release the most carbon, and the anonymous company release a lot less in comparisons for Water and electricity however transport is similar to Strident Managed Services this will be due to the air travel that occurs as part of the company works from Malaga.

This all makes Strident Managed services look like quite heavy emitters however we haven’t yet taken account for the size of these companies in terms of employees and turn over. I don’t have the data for turnover but we do for employees Strident Managed Services employees around 20 people compared to just 5 employed by Showbiz software and the anonymous company. So looking at the CO2 emissions per employees the anonymous company is the highest emitter.

Variation in how and what you compare really reflect the results you get, in creating our legue table in the future then we need to be careful to incorporate influencing factors to make it as fair as possible therefore reliable
