Although being involved in the Suffolk Low Carbon Champion project as both sponsor and reviewer the ancestry of the programme I never quite sussed out the champion vs. charter issue.
Whilst individuals were clearly internal champions in their companies , a key role for successful organisations was to act as eternal champions in their community. This is explicit at the gold charter level but implicit at lower levels and the grounded method envisaged by Suffolk County Council who instigated the programme.
What we are trying to achieve is similar but delivered in different ways. We’re probably not allowed to call it Low Carbon Champions (they would be right to defend the brand) but LCC Lite hopefully won’t upset anyone. I was tempted by Low Carbon Deviants to reflect a similar, interesting approach but this might have been a step too far!
