One of the biggest problems with the original Low Carbon Champions project in 2010 was its inability to scale beyond the 120 companies involved in the project. This is not a mistake we plan to make with Carbon Champions and have already added nearly 5,000 amateur cricket clubs in England & Wales plus all their fixtures since 2021.
This enables an estimate of transport (using postcode GPS) and food emissions together with energy from club templates to provide a baseline for carbon reductions to carbon net zero. This is defined using the 90% reduction / 10% residual model. Clothing, kit and data emission sources are being added next.
