The third die with added to our Carbon Champions cricket game is Climate. Why? Because cricket is the field sport most threatened by climate change (ref) so it matters. And it’s real. Last season Eight Ash Green CC didn’t play at home until June because the ground was too wet. This year it hasn’t rained for a month.
We’re reflecting Climate as a die roiled before each innings. If conditions are unplayable the match is cancelled / abandoned. Probabilities are very simple to start with, and will be fine-tuned as the game progresses. The league points system adopted means inability to play has serious implications for ambitious clubs. To reduce this risk in their virtual world they need to act in the real world.
