An initiative launched a decade ago steps up a gear with the launch of Carbon Champions to Suffolk Cricket.  A Suffolk Council Net Zero Innovation Fund grant aims to recruit Carbon Champions in all 84 Suffolk cricket clubs to take action to fight climate change.

The funding is being used to recruit interns at the University of Suffolk to boost the project’s potential using gaming, data science and artificial intelligence.  Our first intern starts on 2 December.

Project Leader Richard Parker was involved in the original Suffolk Low Carbon Champions project in 2010.  He has continued to develop the Carbon Champions idea through Eight Ash Green Cricket Club. 

Eight Ash Green Cricket Club was helped by England star Reece Topley and father Don.  Reece awarded the club’s first Carbon Balanced certificate on 22 November 2014, exactly ten years ago.
