The suspicion that the Suffolk Carbon Charter might prove a proverbial sledgehammer to crack SME nuts is perhaps most justified in its progress reporting device – the Carbon Log (very small section shown below, click to enlarge).  Just reading it is enough to induce reactions ranging from a cold sweat in hardened professionals to a nosebleed in lesser mortals.   

Recording progress towards the carbon charter actually requires people to try to fill it in.  It helps if you have environmental qualifications here which is no surprise because that’s probably what the people had who designed it. 

Unfortunately the same scientific approach slips into most carbon audits that assume similar levels of ability and interest.  All of the cases in LCD Cohort 1 needed help to work through even the simpler versions (as described in earlier post by intern Claire).   Again, the likely reason for this is systems designed for large complex corporations being adapted for small and micro organisations.  We’ve commented on this before propose designing a game that does the same thing but that’s probably Cohort 3.
