So the first week working with Neutral Territory has ended. It has been busy and lots of ideas and plans bumbling about just as any good action research project should be!  

A lot of time has been spent filling in online audits for business carbon footprints using the data that Strident provided three years ago for the audit for their LCC award so I thought I would give a quick write up of the different Audits that have been investigated so far.

So what has been discovered;  I stumbled across the World Land Trust who have an office in Halesworth amazingly so I am very keen to make contact with them as the online audit they offer is free and is looked over by a ecologist not just a computer so hopefully we can get some more expertise in and validate the audits. The calculator used by Carbon Target doesn’t provide any option of inputting positives towards your carbon footprint such as the use of a green energy supplier. Admittedly many of the companies don’t allow this however there is advice provided by Clevel to insert a 0  if electricity is provided by renewable sources and the World Land Trust have a comments box where I presume information such as increased insulation or use of solar gain could be added so considered when the carbon footprint is being calculated.

The carbon footprint calculator that green Suffolk provide in partnership with Carbon Footprint does provide a report which except the pie chart showing the proportion of were carbon is used is fairly general. Hopefully with the use of the online network we will create Neutral Territory will build from this and make the report more tailored to the company.

It has been a really great week action research is the only way to describe it because every new nugget of information that is found leads to 10 new snippets of information building the knowledge very rapidly.
