Flexible working: do the maths

There are lots of angles to Flexible Working, but if you look simply at commuting the maths is simple.

Let’s say you used to commute to work five days a week and now only go in once a week to catch up with colleagues for those few crucial face-to-face activities.

The costs of your commuting – time, stress, travel – are cut by 80%. So too are the social costs of congestion, especially the impact of pollution on public physical and mental health.

A basic spreadsheet can extrapolate this to some really hefty numbers even using small organisations. There can’t be many more changes that are as effective as Flexible Working in reducing our carbon emissions.
