Last year Eight Ash Green Cricket Club signed up to Low Carbon Champions programme that helped them measure, reduce and offset their carbon emissions.  A small team led by Luke Keeble pushed the project through with help from interns from the University of East Anglia and sponsorship from Neutral Territory.

The usual improvements include replacing light bulbs, timer switches, etc. but the biggest change is with transport.   ‘Carbon emissions from travelling to away games was a major contributor,’ explained Luke, ‘so we got ourselves an 11 seat Land Rover to take most of the players next season!’  (pictured below with members of youth section.)

The club follows a simple Measure – Reduce – Offset model supported on the Low Carbon Champions community site.  ‘We estimate that we used 8 tons of carbon last year, and have offset all this with the help of the World Land Trust and sponsors Neutral Territory’, added Luke.  ‘We now aim to steadily reduce this year-on-year.’
